On 20 September 2024, the Bill on safe digital environments for children and adolescents including data protection regulation was introduced at the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The Bill will establish an enforcement authority for the law, defined by the national executive power. An administrative coordination unit will be created to ensure coordination among agencies and monitor progress. The Bill also provides that an observatory for healthy digital environments for childhood and adolescence will be set up to record digital environment use, monitor law compliance, and generate national statistics on children's digital activity. The Ombudsperson for Children’s Rights will head the observatory, with members appointed by the enforcement authority.
