On 20 September 2024, the Bill on safe digital environments for children and adolescents including data protection regulation was introduced at the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The Bill bans advertising (ads) aimed at children and adolescents in digital spaces if it promotes gambling, alcohol, or tobacco. It also prohibits ads offering gifts, prizes, or unhealthy eating habits. Ads that create unrealistic product expectations or encourage inferiority or superiority are banned. The Bill also bans ads promoting beauty, body, or gender stereotypes. Misleading claims about a product’s benefits and violent or dangerous imagery are also prohibited.
