United Kingdom: Adopted UK AI Opportunities Action Plan

On 13 January 2025, the UK government adopted the AI Opportunities Action Plan, outlining 50 measures to accelerate the development and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI). The plan aims to foster investment, create jobs, and enhance public services through AI integration. The plan includes the creation of dedicated AI Growth Zones to streamline planning permissions and energy connections for AI infrastructure. It also proposes an increase in public computing capacity, the establishment of a National Data Library, and the formation of an AI Energy Council to address energy demands for AI development. Additionally, the plan specifies that the government will propose measures to regulate AI and establish a copyright framework that benefits both the AI sector and creative industries.
