United States of America: Introduced Smart Device Data Collection Transparency Act (SB 276)

On 7 January 2025, the Smart Device Data Collection Transparency Act (SB 276) was introduced into the Texas Senate. The Act would require smart device operators to develop a mobile application providing users with detailed information on personal data collection, storage, and sharing practices. Operators must also notify users quarterly about the availability of the application and its features for managing data collection preferences. If passed, the Act would take effect on 1 September 2025.
