On 6 July 2021, the National Council for Artificial Intelligence released the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy. The strategy outlines the vision and mission to exploit AI for economic growth and social welfare, focusing on four pillars, namely AI for Government, AI for Development, Capacity Building, and International Activities. The strategy emphasises the importance of governance, data management, infrastructure, and ecosystem development to support AI initiatives. Implementation is structured in phases, with Phase 1 focusing on proving the value of AI across various sectors, while subsequent phases aim to expand research and grow the AI ecosystem. The strategy also includes monitoring and evaluation frameworks to ensure its effectiveness and impact, with an emphasis on ethical AI practices and international cooperation.
