Brazil: Issued ANPD guidelines on the role of the data protection officer under General Personal Data Protection (LGPD)

On 19 December 2024, the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) published guidelines on the role of the data protection officer. These guidelines assist Data Protection Officers (DPOs) in complying with Resolution CD/ANPD No. 18, which outlines their organisational responsibilities under the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). The guide provides best practices for data processing agents and defines the DPO's role as a liaison between data subjects, data processing agents, and the ANPD.
