Description

Opened consultation on CSESJ inquiry into protecting young people's personal information to ensure their digital well-being

On 13 December 2024, the Special Parliamentary Commission on the Impacts of Screens and Social Networks on the Health and Development of Young People (CSESJ) opened a public consultation on protecting young people's personal information to ensure their digital well-being until 31 January 2025. The consultation focuses on the interplay between screens and young people, digital platforms, and exposure to online content. The consultation seeks inputs on young people's use of screens and digital platforms, including screen time and supervision measures in schools and online, particularly regarding digital learning tools. It also seeks information relating to access to social networks and video games, cyberbullying, specifically the sharing of sexually explicit material. Additionally, it explores minors' access to pornography on the web, the addictive mechanisms used by some apps, and advertising targeted at children on platforms and apps.
