Description

National Telecom Regulatory Authority's Internet of Things (IoT) Framework including non-discrimination requirements entered into force

On 13 January 2021, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) adopted the Internet of Things (IoT) Framework, including non-discrimination requirements. The framework entered into force on the day of its issuance. IoT network operators and service providers are required to establish, maintain, and make their networks available to other licensed entities on a non-discriminatory basis. This includes ensuring high-performance levels, compliance with international technical standards, and the implementation of robust data security measures. Operators must also provide connectivity services to users when required and adhere to specific radio spectrum rules and frequency bands allocated by NTRA. Furthermore, they are obligated to submit regular network databases and obtain necessary approvals for any changes to their network infrastructure or service offerings.
