Egypt: Supreme Council of Digital Society's Cloud First Policy (2024) including licensing requirements entered into force

On 22 August 2024, the Supreme Council of Digital Society's Cloud First Policy (2024) including licensing requirements entered into force. The policy requires cloud service providers (CSPs) to comply with the Regulatory Framework for Establishing and Operating Data Centres and Providing Hosting Services for Cloud Computing (2021). CSPs must obtain a Tier-3 Licence to deliver services to governmental agencies, ensuring adherence to technical, security, and operational standards. Service providers are prohibited from offering higher-tier services without appropriate licensing, and compliance with these licensing requirements is monitored to guarantee the security and reliability of cloud computing systems.
