Adopted Online Safety Industry Standard 2024 under the Online Safety Act 2021 for Designated Internet Services

On 18 November 2024, the Online Safety Industry Standard 2024, registered under the Online Safety Act 2021, was adopted. On this date, the standard reached the end of its Parliamentary Disallowance period, confirming its adoption. Developed by the eSafety Commissioner, this standard regulates Designated Internet Services. The standard mandates that internet services, including apps, websites, file and photo storage services, and certain platforms deploying or distributing generative AI models, implement measures to eliminate child sexual abuse and pro-terror material. The standard comes into force on 22 December 2024.
