On 10 December 2024, the Competition Authority authorised the acquisition of Teads by Outbrain. Both companies are part of the online advertising sector, with Outbrain specialising in content recommendation ads placed at the end of a page and Teads specialising in video and non-video ads to promote brand awareness placed within editorial content. The Competition Authority determined that the acquisition would not negatively impact competition in the sector due to sufficient differences between the parties and the limited market share of each party.
