Rejected Bill 21/2020

On 10 December 2024, Bill 21/2020 was declared invalid as another Bill (Bill n° 2338 / 2023) regulating Artificial Intelligence (AI) was passed by the Senate. Bill 21/2020 aimed at creating a legal framework for the development and use of AI. It established that the use of AI would be based on respect for human rights and democratic values, equality, non-discrimination, plurality, free enterprise, and data privacy. Developers as well as operators of AI would have faced a number of duties, such as being compliant with data protection obligations and being legally responsible for decisions made by AI.
