Adopted declaration on EU-Smart Africa cooperation on digital transformation

On 3 December 2024, the European Union and Smart Africa, consisting of 40 African countries adopted a declaration to enhance cooperation for a human-centric digital transformation of Africa. The declaration focuses on fostering collaboration in secure connectivity, digital services, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. It also emphasises strengthening digital capacity through skill development and technical expertise for African Union Member States. It also aims to promote joint initiatives and advance collaboration within international organisations to address global challenges and support a shared vision for digital transformation.
