Rwanda: Signed Law No. 058/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy including data localisation requirements

On 13 October 2021, Law No. 058/2021, relating to the protection of personal data and privacy, was signed. The Act specifies that personal data must be stored in Rwanda. However, storing data abroad is allowed if the data controller or processor obtains a registration certificate from the supervisory authority authorising such storage.
