Issued EDPB response on the role of data protection authorities in the Artificial Intelligence Act Framework

On 6 November 2024, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) responded to a letter regarding its statement on the role of data protection authorities (DPAs) in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act Framework. The response emphasised the need for collaboration with the AI Office and AI Board to ensure a coordinated approach to AI governance, particularly for high-risk AI systems. The EDPB highlighted that it is working on guidelines on the interplay between the GDPR and the AI Act and preparing an Article 64(2) GDPR Opinion on AI models.
