Singapore: Opened consultation on CCCS investigation into proposed acquisition of ZT Group Int’l by Advanced Micro Devices

On 26 November 2024, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) opened a public consultation on the proposed acquisition of ZT Group Int’l, Inc. (ZT) by Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) until 10 December 2024. The investigation focuses on the semiconductor and data centre industries. The CCCS highlighted that AMD supplies products such as CPUs and GPUs globally, and ZT provides customised servers and related services for hyper-scale data centres. It was highlighted that the companies do not overlap in the supply of goods or services in Singapore. However, AMD’s semiconductor products for data centres are integrated into servers designed by ZT and its competitors, indicating a supplier-customer relationship. The CCCS seeks inputs from stakeholders to assess whether the acquisition could substantially lessen competition.
