Peru: Closed consultation on new draft of Regulation of Law no. 31814 promoting the use of AI for the economic and social development of the country including Artificial Intelligence authority governance

On 6 December 2024, the Secretariat of Government and Digital Transformation (SGTD) closes the consultation on a new draft of the Regulation of Law no. 31814 promoting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for the economic and social development of the country. The new draft Regulation reaffirms that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, specifically the SGDT, will serve as the national authority for the oversight of AI and emerging technologies. Furthermore, the national authority would be required to adopt measures to promote AI, propose norms, approve guidelines, and provide technical assistance.
