On 21 November 2024, Ghana's National Communications Authority (NCA) and Gambia's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Free Roaming Initiative. The MoU aims to extend affordable telecommunications services to citizens traveling between Ghana and Gambia, reducing roaming costs and fostering regional connectivity. This agreement will enable technical and regulatory discussions that will lead to the implementation and launch of ECOWAS Roaming Regulations in the first half of 2025.
