European Union: Opened consultation on European Commission inquiry on internet governance

On 13 November 2024, the European Commission opened a public consultation on Internet Governance as part of its preparations for the 2025 United Nations Summit, aiming to review and potentially reshape the architecture for Internet governance until 31 December 2024. The consultation, responding to a Council request for an EU strategy on multistakeholder internet governance, seeks to secure a common EU position in international forums. The Commission noted that the report will inform policies on ensuring the Internet remains open, free, affordable, neutral, secure, and globally interconnected. Stakeholders, including governments, businesses, technical experts, and civil society organisations, are invited to contribute their comments.
