Description

Announced European Commission investigation into Booking's compliance with Digital Markets Act

On 14 November 2024, the European Commission (EC) opened an investigation to assess whether Booking complies with relevant obligations under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This followed the designation of Booking as gatekeeper on 13 May 2024. Booking is required to demonstrate its adherence by submitting a detailed compliance report, which includes measures taken to align with the DMA. Booking has provided an independently audited report describing the techniques it uses for consumer profiling, along with a non-confidential version of this profiling report. The Commission has also mandated that Booking retain any documentation or information that could be relevant for assessing and monitoring ongoing compliance.
