Issued ruling in ACMA investigation into Tabcorp over alleged illegal in-play bets

On 13 November 2023, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) fined Tabcorp Holdings Ltd (Tabcorp) AUD 262'000 for allowing illegal in-play bets on their platform. Tabcorp, a betting services provider, was found to have accepted 854 in-play bets across 69 tennis matches between April and October 2023. Online in-play betting is prohibited in Australia under the Interactive Gambling Act of 2021. During the investigation, Tabcorp reported the breaches occurred due to a technical error in its systems, which was not fixed until October 2023.
