United States of America: Adopted CPPA regulations for data broker registration under the DELETE Act (SB 362)

On 8 November 2024, the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) Board adopted the data broker registration regulations under the DELETE Act (SB 362). The regulations will now be submitted to the Office of Administrative Law for review and approval. If approved, they are expected to come into effect by 1 January 2025. The regulations aim to address common questions and obstacles encountered by data brokers during the most recent registration period. Specifically, the regulations detail the components and payment process of the registration fee, define terms included in SB 362, and clarify requirements for registration, registry updates, and website disclosures.
