Finland: Announced KKV investigation into Nordea and OP Siirto's joint venture related to mobile payments

On 29 October 2024, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV) announced an investigation into Nordea and OP Siirto's joint venture related to mobile payments. The investigation examines whether the merger, which aims to provide an account-based payment solution and facilitate e-invoicing through mobile banking apps, might impede competition. The KKV will evaluate if the merger could harm competition in the Finnish market and could either approve the transaction, impose conditions, or propose its prohibition to the Market Court.
