On 18 March 2024, the Bill on algorithmic responsibility and the promotion of robotics, green algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) (0805-D-2024) was introduced to the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The Bill aims to establish regulatory frameworks for artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithmic accountability, including promoting green algorithms and robotics initiatives. The Bill establishes requirements for documentation, explainability of AI decision-making, and transparency protocols. The Bill establishes the AI Advisory Council to oversee compliance, adopt rules to address risks from technological innovations, promote responsible algorithmic practices, and ensure transparency in algorithm use. It will also create a public register for automated decision systems that pose significant risks to safeguard rights and interests.
