Signed FCC and CPPA Memorandum of Understanding on Consumer Privacy and Data Protection

On 29 October 2024, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise cooperation on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity enforcement matters. The MoU establishes a partnership that allows both agencies to coordinate efforts, share resources, and exchange expertise to strengthen consumer privacy protections. This agreement enables the FCC’s Privacy and Data Protection Task Force and CPPA to work collaboratively on investigations and enforcement actions in areas such as data breaches and consumer protection against digital privacy harms.
