Issued ruling in KFTC investigation into Booking for alleged unfair advertising practices

On 25 October 2024, the Korean Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) imposed a fine of KRW 1.95 billion against Booking for misleading advertisements related to a free airport taxi service. The ruling addresses Booking's claim that the service for free airport taxi service may be availed by consumers when booking accommodations. Despite the service being discontinued for South Korean consumers on 27 June 2022, the advertisements were displayed until 20 September 2023. The KFTC required Booking to cease misleading advertisements and comply with fair advertising standards.
