Issued eSafety Commissioner assessment on Apple's child safety reporting feature

On 24 October 2024, the eSafety Commissioner announced the introduction of a new in-app reporting feature by Apple aimed at enhancing online safety for children in Australia. The feature allows children to report unwanted nude images directly to Apple. The feature was implemented two years after the eSafety Commissioner's report on Basic Online Safety Expectations highlighted the lack of such measures on Apple platforms. It will be available to children in Australia, with an option for adults to opt in.
