United Kingdom: Adopted DSIT-NCSC joint statement on cyber essentials supply chain commitment

On 23 October 2024, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) adopted a joint statement on cyber essentials supply chain commitment. The statement applies to critical national supply chains across sectors, including banks and building societies. The statement encourages suppliers to achieve Cyber Essentials certification, a government-backed cyber security certification scheme which establishes fundamental cyber security standards and reduces vulnerability to cyber attacks. This initiative aims to streamline procurement processes, raise overall cyber security standards, and extend cyber insurance coverage within supply chains.
