ASEAN: Adopted ASEAN-India joint statement on advancing digital transformation

On 10 October 2024, member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and India adopted a joint statement on advancing digital transformation. The statement focuses on digital public infrastructure, financial technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), capacity building, and sustainable financing. The statement includes commitments to enhancing collaboration in digital public infrastructure for regional development, financial technology for cross-border payment solutions, and cybersecurity to ensure digital resilience. It also emphasises the responsible use of AI, workforce upskilling, and governance frameworks. It supports capacity building, knowledge sharing, sustainable financing, and mechanisms for implementing digital transformation initiatives.
