Description

Adopted IMDA order blocking inauthentic websites

On 22 October 2024, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) issued an order under Section 16 of the Broadcasting Act 1994 to Internet Access Service Providers (IASPs) in Singapore, directing them to disable access to ten websites identified as inauthentic. These websites, detected by the Ministry of Home Affairs and confirmed by IMDA, were found to potentially pose a threat of being used for hostile information campaigns against Singapore. The websites employed tactics such as masquerading as local entities by spoofing domain names and incorporating AI-generated content related to Singapore.
