Issued MF recommendation following inquiry into economic and competitive aspects of digital platforms

On 10 October 2024, the Ministry of Finance (MF) issued a report on the economic and competitive aspects of digital platforms and recommendations for regulatory improvements following a market inquiry. The MF recommends establishing specific obligations for large platforms and updating rules applicable to all entities in the digital markets. Specifically, the MF recommends establishing procedural and transparency obligations for platforms designated as “systemically relevant” and empowering the Administrative Council for Economic Defence to designate them and ensure compliance. Secondly, the MF recommends revising concentration notification processes and updating revenue thresholds for mandatory notifications of concentration acts to better reflect market dynamics.
