Description

Closed consultation on ComCom broadband marketing guidelines

On 6 November 2024, the Commerce Commission (ComCom) closes a public consultation on the broadband marketing guidelines. The guidelines seek to enhance consumer choice in New Zealand's broadband market. The guideline applies to broadband service providers and imposes obligations, including clarifying speed disclosures and standardising exit rights to prevent consumer lock-in. It also requires the disclosure of actual performance speeds based on ComCom’s measuring programme. Additionally, the guideline also requires providers to offer consumers at least 12 months of usage and spending information to assess their plan's suitability.
