Announced commencement of negotiations for UK-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement

On 14 October 2024, the United Kingdom announced the commencement of negotiations for a renewed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Switzerland. The FTA aims to update the existing trade relationship between the countries by expanding their commitments regarding trade in services, goods, intellectual property rights, investment flows, and digital trade and data protection. The current United Kingdom-Switzerland trade agreement does not cover digital trade or cross-border data transfers.
