Issued MHA targeted correction direction in investigation into Ms Kokila Annamalai regarding published falsehoods Meta Platforms and X Corp.

On 11 October 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) directed the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) Office to issue a targeted correction direction to the Meta Platforms and X Corp., following Ms Kokila Annamalai’s non-compliance with the Correction Direction that was issued to her on 5 October 2024. The correction order requires the platforms to inform users who viewed Ms Annamalai's posts that these posts contain false claims about the government's handling of executions and drug trafficking prosecutions. Furthermore, the users must be provided with a link to an article correcting these statements. In addition, Ms Annamalai will be investigated for her non-compliance.
