Published CAC fifth batch of typical cases of online rumors in the fields of public policy, emergency incidents, and social livelihood

On 12 October 2024, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued warnings about online rumours, noting an increase of false information in various areas, such as public policies, social issues, and emergency incidents, using fabricated stories, distorted facts, and recycled old news. In response, the CAC has intensified monitoring and action, blocking a total of 8,583 accounts involved in these activities. The CAC notes that it continues to work to trace and close accounts responsible for spreading such misinformation, urging the public to remain vigilant and not believe or share rumours.
