Turkiye: Implemented order banning Discord over alleged offences on the platform related to child sexual abuse and obscenity

On 9 October 2024, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority of Turkey (BTK) blocked access to Discord, a platform offering text, audio, and video communication. The access was blocked due to concerns over offences related to child sexual abuse and obscenity potentially being committed on the platform. It was also highlighted that Discord had refused to share user information, including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, with Turkish enforcement authorities, leading to the access ban.
