Adopted CICC outline for AI utilisation in social media platforms for combating scams

On 10 January 2024, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center outlined its call for social media platforms and online service providers to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) in combating cybercrimes, particularly scams. This outline encourages social media and online service providers to take action to prevent the re-emergence of scams under new profiles with similar content. CICC highlighted that the Internet Transactions Act of 2023 empowers the CICC to seek penalties against platforms that fail to address these issues, with potential fines and temporary suspension of operations for non-compliance.
