Announced Declaration on protecting and empowering consumers in the digital transitions

On 9 October 2024, the Ministers and Representatives from a broad coalition of countries assembled at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)signed a Declaration on Protecting and Empowering Consumers in the Digital and Green Transitions. The declaration emphasised the centrality of consumers in the digital and green transitions while also acknowledging the role of the CCP and its Working Party on Consumer Product Safety (WPCPS) in addressing consumer and product safety issues. The declaration calls for international cooperation and a multidisciplinary approach to protect and empower consumers, emphasising the necessity for decisive action in digital markets and in markets for goods and services with environmental impacts.
