Turkiye: Competition Authority opens investigation into Media Markt Turkey, Teknosa, Vatan Bilgisayar, and Sunny Elektronik for alleged anti-competitive agreements

On 18 May 2022, the Turkish Competition Authority initiated an investigation into Media Markt Turkey, Teknosa, Vatan Bilgisayar, and Sunny Elektronik for alleged anti-competitive agreements. The investigation follows claims that Media Markt, Teknosa, and Vatan Bilgisayar engaged in exchanging competitively sensitive information, while Sunny Elektronik imposed internet sales restrictions on resellers, set resale prices, and facilitated indirect information exchange among the aforementioned companies. After reviewing the information and documents obtained during the preliminary inquiry, the Competition Board concluded that the findings were significant and sufficient to initiate a formal investigation.
