Philippines: Adopted DTI National AI Strategy Roadmap 2.0

On 3 July 2024, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) adopted the National AI Strategy Roadmap 2.0 (NAISR 2.0). The NAISR 2.0 aims to use the potential of AI to improve the Philippine economy and improve life for its citizens. The NAISR 2.0 is based on the first AI roadmap from 2021 and includes more recent technological advancements, such as generative AI, and refocuses its strategic actions according to recent developments and emerging topics. Specifically, NAISR 2.0 outlines seven strategic imperatives to achieve these goals, namely establishing a robust, connected, and networked environment, improving data access and value extraction, transforming education and nurturing future AI talent, upskilling and reskilling the workforce, fostering an AI ecosystem that prioritises ethical considerations, mastering and pushing the boundaries of AI research and development, and accelerating innovation through the strategic application of AI technologies. Additionally, the NAISR 2.0 aims to address the challenges which prevent a comprehensive adoption of AI in the Philippines.
