China: Adopted Filing Guidelines on the Standard Contract for Cross-Border Flow of Personal Information in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Mainland, Hong Kong)

On 16 September 2024, the Hong Kong Digital Policy Office (DPO) adopted the Filing Guidelines on the Standard Contract for Cross-Border Flow of Personal Information in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Mainland, Hong Kong). The filing guidelines aim to facilitate compliance by outlining the submission process for documentation, including completed contracts, identity verification, and business registration certificates. Furthermore, the guidelines cover cases where contract modifications are necessary due to changes in data handling purposes, duration, or recipient details. The DPO will review submissions and issue filing reference numbers or acknowledgment notifications within 10 working days. If any additional documents are required, they must be provided within a set deadline.
