China: Closed consultation on Cybersecurity Standard Practice Guidelines for Academic and Scientific Service Platforms including cross-border data transfer requirements

Description

Closed consultation on Cybersecurity Standard Practice Guidelines for Academic and Scientific Service Platforms including cross-border data transfer requirements

On 14 October 2024, the Secretariat of the National Cybersecurity Standardization Technical Committee closes a public consultation for the 'Cybersecurity Standard Practice Guidelines - Data Security Requirements for Academic and Technological Service Platforms (Draft for Comments)'. It outlines data security requirements for academic and scientific service platforms, such as classification and protection of academic data based on sensitivity. So-called non-public data collected and generated in China would require a security assessment. Transferred personal data should not include sensitive data, and information should not be provided abroad by bypassing platforms through offline methods.
