China: Opened consultation on Cybersecurity Standard Practice Guidelines for Academic and Scientific Service Platforms including data localisation requirements

Description

Opened consultation on Cybersecurity Standard Practice Guidelines for Academic and Scientific Service Platforms including data localisation requirements

On 30 September 2024, the Secretariat of the National Cybersecurity Standardization Technical Committee initiated a public consultation for the 'Cybersecurity Standard Practice Guidelines - Data Security Requirements for Academic and Technological Service Platforms (Draft for Comments)'. It outlines data security requirements for academic and scientific service platforms, such as classification and protection of academic data based on sensitivity, separating storage of non-public data and keeping it within China if collected domestically. Export of such data outside of China would require a security assessment. Stakeholders are invited to submit their feedback and suggestions to the Secretariat by 14 October 2024.
