Ireland: Announced CNAM investigation into online platform compliance with EU Digital Services Act

On 12 September 2024, Ireland's media regulator (CNAM) initiated an investigation into the compliance of online platforms in Ireland with their obligations under the Digital Services Act (DSA). The DSA mandates that platforms offer accessible, user-friendly reporting systems and maintain clear contact points for users. CNAM has requested detailed information from TikTok, X, YouTube, Meta, LinkedIn, Temu, Pinterest, Shein, Etsy, Dropbox, Hostelworld, and Tumblr. After reviewing the responses, CNAM will engage with the platforms to ensure compliance, and if the concerns persist, it may issue compliance notices or launch formal investigations, potentially resulting in sanctions or fines.
