Australia: Appeal filed to High Court in case regarding potential defamation liability of social media platforms

On 21 December 2020, notices of appeal were filed to the High Court of Australia in the matter of Fairfax Media Publications Pty Ltd v. Voller, Nationwide News Pty Limited v. Voller, and Australian News Channel Pty Ltd v. Voller. The parties are appealing a decision of the Supreme Court of New South Wales that operators or hosts of internet content (in this case operators of Facebook pages) may be held liable for participating in defamation.
