Republic of Korea: Opened consultation on PIPC Guideline on Notification on the Method of Transmitting Personal Information and Designation of Personal Information Management Organisations

On 30 September 2024, the Personal Information Protection Committee (PIPC) of Korea opened a public consultation on the establishment of guidelines for the methods of transmitting personal information and the designation of specialised institutions for managing such information. The consultation is open until 21 October 2024. This initiative, in line with the amendments to the Personal Information Protection Act, aims to regulate the request and transmission procedures, set technical standards, and outline the designation criteria for managing institutions. The consultation seeks to gather opinions from institutions, organizations, and individuals to ensure the safe and reliable management and transmission of personal data.
