Thailand: Opened ETDA public consultation on Royal Decree on Digital Platforms

On 9 August 2024, the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) opened a public consultation on the Royal Decree on Digital Platforms until 30 August 2024. The consultation involves a 44-question survey targeting specific aspects of the decree, including definitions of digital platform services (DPSs), notification requirements, annual information submissions, and the decree’s extraterritorial scope. The Royal Decree, which was adopted on 22 December 2022, mandates that DPS operators, such as e-commerce platforms, food delivery services, ride-hailing apps, and social media platforms, notify the ETDA before commencing operations, with some exceptions. Businesses covered by the decree are encouraged to complete the survey to provide input on the effectiveness and practicality of these regulations, helping shape future regulatory requirements.
