Indonesia: Issued regulation No.80/2019 containing local operations requirement for certain e-commerce operators

Government Regulation No. 80 of 2019 on Trading through Electronic System (GR80) is issued by the Indonesian government. The Regulation introduces various measures concerning contracts, payments, product delivery and businesses' obligations in transactions operated through electronic systems. Particularly, the Regulation introduces a local operations requirement for e-commerce operators that surpass a certain threshold as regards features like number or value of transactions, number of deliveries and amount of traffic generated. These businesses shall appoint representatives domiciled in the Indonesian jurisdiction.
