Issued ruling in FCC Investigation into election interference generative AI robocalls

On 26 September 2024, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a ruling in its investigation an election interference scheme which sent illegal robocalls using deepfake technology. In its decision, the FCC fined political consultant Steve Kramer USD 6 million for the robocall campaign which used a deepfake of President Biden's voice prior to the New Hampshire primary election. The fine must be paid within 30 days.
