Adopted AI in Global Development Playbook

On 20 September 2024, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) adopted the AI in Global Development Playbook. The Playbook outlines strategies for leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to support global sustainable development while mitigating associated risks. It emphasises that AI, when used responsibly, can drive progress in sectors like health, education, agriculture, and energy. Further, the Playbook presents a roadmap for responsible AI ecosystems, promoting AI-related skills, building digital infrastructure, and creating locally relevant datasets. The recommendations focus on addressing labour and workforce implications of AI, building trusted infrastructure, broadening access to data storage, creating representative datasets, and advancing good governance frameworks, among other points.
